Driver's Licenses to Identify Sex Offenders
Department of Public Safety officials announce that, effective November 1, 2007 a new state law requires that state residents who are listed on the Department of Corrections Sex Offenders Registry as aggravated or habitual sex offenders be identified when they apply for either an original or renewal license, or a state identification card. The driver license or ID card of these offenders will be clearly labeled with the words "sex offender" in the color red, in three distinct places. Offenders will be required to renew the license or ID card annually.

Licenses issued to sex offenders will be marked with the words "Sex Offender" in 3 places, as shown on this example.
Licenses issued to non-citizens will be marked with the word "Temporary" in 2 places, as shown on this example.
