A suspect who allegedly assaulted a Pottawatomie County sheriff’s deputy April 24 and then eluded authorities for two weeks was arrested in Shawnee Wednesday.

Sheriff Kurt Shirey said Teddy Villereal, 35, was arrested without incident after deputies received a tip that he was at a Shawnee residence.

Deputies had been searching for Villereal for two weeks. Reports indicate a deputy attempted to serve Villereal with protective order papers April 24 and was assaulted. Villareal reportedly fled in a vehicle and led deputies on a 20-mile pursuit from Earlsboro to the Seminole County area, said Chief Deputy Jim Patten, but deputies lost sight of him in a oil field area.

A tip led authorities to a home on Farrall Street in Shawnee Wednesday. Villereal was arrested on complaints of assault and battery on a police officer and eluding police, and also was sought for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was jailed at the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center, but no bond information had been determined Wednesday evening. Formal charges have not been filed.
